Frequently asked questions
Cosmetic Tattoos
Can I drink coffee or alcohol before my appointment?
No. Please avoid alcohol and caffeine for 48 hours prior to your appointment, as they can increase sensitivity, bleeding, and affect pigment retention.
Can I tan or be in the sun before my appointment?
No. Sunburned or sensitized skin cannot be treated. Avoid sun exposure and tanning beds for at least two weeks before and after your appointment.
Can I get Botox or fillers before permanent makeup?
Injectables must be done at least four weeks prior to any permanent makeup treatment. This allows the skin to fully settle and ensures accurate placement.
What skincare products should I stop using before treatment?
Retinol, vitamin A, acids (AHA/BHA), chemical peels, and aggressive exfoliation must be avoided in the treatment area for four weeks prior.
What if I have previous permanent makeup?
Previous work must be disclosed prior to booking. In some cases, a consultation may be required to assess whether the area is suitable for new pigment.
Results cannot be guaranteed over existing work.
What if I have a medical condition or take medication?
Certain medical conditions and medications may affect eligibility or healing. All clients must complete an intake form before treatment. If you are unsure, please reach out prior to booking.
Lip Blush – What if I’ve had cold sores?
If you have a history of cold sores (herpes simplex), preventative antiviral medication is strongly recommended. Even dormant viruses can be triggered by lip tattooing.
Failure to take preventative medication may result in an outbreak and poor healing.
Eyeliner – Can I wear lash extensions or contact lenses?
Lash extensions must be removed at least one week prior.
Contact lenses cannot be worn during or immediately after treatment. Please bring glasses to your appointment.
Does permanent makeup hurt?
Discomfort levels vary by individual and treatment area. Topical anesthetics are used to keep you as comfortable as possible. Most clients describe the sensation as mild to moderate.
What will my results look like immediately after?
Results will appear darker and more intense initially. This is normal.
As the skin heals, the color will soften and lighten. Final results are typically visible after full healing.
Is a touch-up included?
Touch-ups are not guaranteed and depend on individual healing, skin type, lifestyle, and adherence to pre- and aftercare instructions.
Touch-ups, if needed, are booked separately.
How long does permanent makeup last?
Permanent makeup fades gradually over time. Longevity varies by treatment, skin type, sun exposure, and skincare routine. Maintenance appointments may be needed to refresh the color.
Can everyone get permanent makeup?
Not always. Certain skin conditions, medical concerns, or medications may make treatment unsuitable. The safety of the client and integrity of the results always come first.
Areola Restoration – How do I book?
Areola restoration is offered by request only and begins with a private consultation. This ensures appropriate timing, readiness, and personalized care.
What is your cancellation or rescheduling policy?
Cancellations or reschedules require advance notice. Please refer to the studio’s booking policy for full details.
How do I care for my permanent makeup after treatment?
Proper aftercare is essential for healing, pigment retention, and long-term results. Detailed aftercare instructions will be provided at your appointment and must be followed exactly as advised.
What is normal during the healing process?
During healing, it is normal to experience:
• Mild redness, tenderness, or swelling
• Darker color immediately after treatment
• Light flaking or peeling as the skin heals
• Temporary unevenness as pigment settles
Healing varies by individual and treatment area.
What should I avoid after my appointment?
For best results, avoid the following during the healing period:
• Excess moisture on the treated area
• Sweating, saunas, steam rooms, or swimming
• Sun exposure and tanning beds
• Makeup on the treated area
• Picking, scratching, or exfoliating the skin
How long is the healing process?
Initial healing typically takes 7–10 days, with full healing and color stabilization occurring over 4–6 weeks, depending on the treatment and skin type.
Can I wash my face or shower?
Yes, but avoid direct water pressure on the treated area. Keep the area clean and dry as instructed. Pat gently — do not rub.
Can I wear makeup after treatment?
Makeup should be avoided on the treated area until healing is complete. Makeup may be worn elsewhere on the face if applied carefully.
What if my brows/lips/liner look too dark?
This is completely normal. Color will soften significantly as the skin heals. Please allow the full healing process before assessing your results.
What if scabs or flaking appear?
Do not pick or remove flaking skin. Allow it to shed naturally to prevent pigment loss or scarring.
Is itching normal?
Mild itching can occur as the skin heals. Do not scratch the area. Follow aftercare instructions if soothing is needed.
Can I work out after my appointment?
Strenuous exercise should be avoided for 7–10 days, as sweat and heat can affect healing and pigment retention.
Can I go in the sun after treatment?
Sun exposure should be avoided during healing. Once healed, sunscreen is strongly recommended to maintain pigment longevity.
When will I see the final result?
Final results are visible after the skin has fully healed and pigment has settled — typically 4–6 weeks post-treatment.
Will I need a touch-up?
Touch-ups are not always required and depend on individual healing, skin type, and adherence to aftercare. Any additional sessions are booked separately.
LIP BLUSH – What if I experience swelling or dryness?
Swelling and dryness are normal for the first few days. Keep lips moisturized as instructed and stay hydrated. If you have a history of cold sores, continue antiviral medication as directed.
EYELINER – What should I expect after treatment?
Mild swelling or sensitivity is normal. Avoid contact lenses immediately after treatment and follow eye-specific aftercare instructions carefully.
What happens if I don’t follow aftercare instructions?
Failure to follow aftercare may result in:
• Poor pigment retention
• Uneven healing
• Prolonged redness or irritation
• Unsatisfactory results
In these cases, results cannot be guaranteed.
When should I contact the studio?
Please reach out if you experience:
• Excessive swelling or pain
• Signs of infection
• Unusual healing concerns
